I am thinking of putting up an online business that could provide extra income for families back home in the Philippines. I am trying to gather ideas to what types of business we could put up online that would generate income for our families back home. I have already done my research on most of the requirements which includes setting up an online store, accepting credit card processing over the web providing merchant services and arranging shipping from anywhere in the world should we decide to sell products rather than services. I remember Tommy Lavarias having export quality capiz factory with his wife Joy. I am currently unsure if that business still exists to this day. That’s one idea. Any others?

We have a lot of resources in the Philippines or the U.S. that we could use to either sell online or through a brick-and-mortar store in Manila. I remember a friend of Ate Josie who comes and visits the US every year, goes to Flea Markets all summer long and ships all the goods back to the Philippines to be sold. That’s a great idea as well if someone is willing to scour Flea Markets and Yard Sales for products or clothing. But, I don’t believe anyone here has the time to do that.

I was watching the news the other day and ABC News had completed a research on how to make the best Chocolate Chip Cookie. She replaced it with Nestle semi-sweet chocolate bar and the guests at the Toll House Inn that she ran loved it. As the guests consumed much of the chocolate chip cookie, the sales of Nestle Chocolate grew with it. Andrew Nestle and Ruth Wakefield formed a partnership where Ruth will print the recipe on the package of her cookies to include Nestle Chocolate as an ingredient and Andrew Nestle will provide her a lifetime supply of chocolates for her cookies.

That is what summer is like for me. Isn’t it the same for everyone else out there? I end up looking for things to be completed and the thing is, there is always something that I find to do. I noticed as well while visiting my friend Juan in San Diego that there are lots of work being done not only in homes but outside as well. There are concrete street construction San Diego area, and as beautiful San Diego already is – I am not surprised they try to maintain the streets well. That is what I noticed and if you should take notice, there are a lot of concrete structures in San Diego. I am tempted to call them “structural concrete San Diego” just because they seem to have these beautiful landscapes, decorative concrete structures that are polished and grounded.

I wanted to share my experience with all of you regarding my successful Global Integration trip in Germany. I had to integrate four countries into our Global Portal and in the process, I was only given one week per country. The countries are Germany, Italy, Spain and Czech Republic. Please note that these countries use different systems and we needed to understand their process, map the data properly into our portal using XML or other data format such as EDI. We had different producst involved in their supply chain and it involved Exports and Imports using different modes such as Air, Ocean, Rail and Truck.

To manage these projects and complete them in one week would have been difficult but as a Project Manager, my task was to make sure that the projects were completed on time and on budget. We had to be able to manage the risk when we know that we may be falling behind and what best course to take to get us back on track.

Every year, our company provides us with Corporate Holiday Cards during the Christmas season to sign and be sent to our customers or clients. Opportunities abound for you here in the U.S. I know that there is a bit of a backlog with Nursing recruits here right now but don’t you worry there are other Nursing opportunities available for you. It’s funny because I received an email about an artist who created flags of every country and describes the country in each segmentation of the flag. One Filipino guy created the Philippine flag dividing the blue (people studying to become a nurse), red (studying nursing to as a 2nd course), white (will take up nursing after high school) and yellow stars and sun (as people in the Philippines not studying nursing). It sounds funny but it is almost true.

The opportunities for health care providers such as nurses and doctors are projected to be in much demand in the coming years as the baby boomers age and retire. There will be plenty of Travel Nurse Jobs in the coming years and if you want this opportunity, complete your course, take the board exam and apply as a Travel Nurse here in the U.S.
