The secret of successful Project Management.
I wanted to share my experience with all of you regarding my successful Global Integration trip in Germany. I had to integrate four countries into our Global Portal and in the process, I was only given one week per country. The countries are Germany, Italy, Spain and Czech Republic. Please note that these countries use different systems and we needed to understand their process, map the data properly into our portal using XML or other data format such as EDI. We had different producst involved in their supply chain and it involved Exports and Imports using different modes such as Air, Ocean, Rail and Truck.
To manage these projects and complete them in one week would have been difficult but as a Project Manager, my task was to make sure that the projects were completed on time and on budget. This is where a Time Management Software comes in handy. The cost for these project was allocated and it required careful planning using a powerful enterprise timesheet and expense management software for contractor management and resource tracking so that we could control the expense from a resource standpoint. We had to be able to manage the risk when we know that we may be falling behind and what best course to take to get us back on track.
The project was successful and I came home feeling great with the progress. Everything was done on time and on budget. The jist is, do not execute a project without a Project Plan. Manage a project like you would manage your own home project. You wouldn’t want to pay more than your budget right? It works the same way. If you control it (and this software is great for that), you’re more than likely to succeed.
